Samsung WF448AAP Plantinum Stainless Steel Front Load

by Lauren
(Knoxville, TN)

After my last washing machine finally died (30 year old Kenmore), I decided to purchase a front loading machine. After doing some research, I picked out the Samsung front loading machine with vibration reduction technology. I bought the machine at Best Buy.

My machine is a work of art. It has a beautiful stainless steel finish. I can fit a ton of clothes in this washing machine, almost double compared to my old machine. They all get perfectly clean. It goes through a cycle really fast. One great feature on this machine is the vibration reduction technology. I have this machine by my kitchen and guests do not even know it is turned on! It is very quiet.

I wash a lot of laundry at my house with 3 kids and I have noticed a reduction in my electric bill. The washer does such a good job spinning all of the water out of the clothes that it really reduced the drying time. I also use half the amount of laundry detergent that I previously used.

The only downside to this washer is that it is large and extremely heavy. It took effort and 3 large guys to get it installed for me. You may be a bit alarmed at the high price tag for this washer but you will get your money back in no time because of the lower electric and water bills.

Steam Function Failed For 5 years = More problems NEW
by: Consumer Savvy

Poorly designed expensive garbage. I won't mince words. I had a faulty steam valve. One that Samsung could not fix for 5 years. Finally, they replaced the release valve with a modified valve. Now the machine shakes and bounces. And their is dirt and lint around the inside the rubber seal - in places a consumer can only partially reach.

This piece of crap was discontinued - leaving each Samsung consumer high and dry.

DO NOT BUY - HORRIBLE WASHER
by: Anonymous

DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE. IT SMELLS. IT DESTROYS YOUR CLOTHES. WHITE CLOTHES HAVE TURNED GREY IN COLOUR. FRESHLY WASHED CLOTHES ARE STINK. HAVE TO DOUBLE WASH WITH NO SUCCESS. I THREW OUT A LOT OF CLOTHES. I FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS: KEEP THE DOOR OPEN WHEN NOT IN USE, USE VINEGAR RINSE, AND TO NO SUCCESS. SEARS SOLD IT TO ME AND THEY CAME 5 TIMES TO FIX. THE FIRST TIME SEARS CAME TO FIX, THEY CLEANED OUT ABOUT 5 POUNDS OF GUNK. THEN THEY CAME AGAIN AND REPLACED A MECHNICAL PART AND STIL NO SUCCESS. SEARS DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBIITY FOR THE PROBLEM WITH THE MACHINE. THEY ADMIT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE MACHINE FROM THE MANUFACTURER BUT WOULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. THE PRODUCT WARRANTY IS OVER AND SEARS IS NOW USING MY EXTENDED WARRANTY TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT IS ORIGINALLY COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURER. ROBBERY FROM A COMPANY LIKE SEARS. THEY HAD MY BUSINESS FOR OVER 40 YEARS. NO MORE. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE.

I Love these machines. Ask me your questions.
by: Appliance Queen

I initially had the odor problem; I posted my find on another page. In order to find the problem, I had to accept this is not your older version and its technology is so much different. With that said I found the odor problem in the door, cleaned it out and started using the washer as it was supposed to be. They really should give detail lessons on a cd. This is a steam model, therefore in order for the steam to build, the unit must be sealed. So you need to leave the door open to air out once finished.

The detergent cups have some type of weight in them that if you pour to much liquid in any of the cups; it will immediately pour onto the cloths rather than wait for its cycle. (ie Bleaching T-Shirts) Reduce the amount you are using; this machine only uses half the amount of water, so keep that in mind.

There are different soil levels, so if your clothes are not as clean as they could be, use heavy soil level (the drum fully spins). I always keep mine there.

If you have a lot of stains and grease, use the deep steam options.

If wrinkles are your problems, use a warm warm cycle and reduce the spin cycle to low. I use this cycle on my husband’s dress shirts and slacks, I hate to iron.

I make sure my husband uses T-shirts under his sweaters (also cashmere), after it is worn, I check for stains and remove, then put into the dryer using the steam cycle with a spritz of fabric deodorizer and it comes out beautiful. I use this cycle for suits, silk, dry clean only dresses too.

I have damask chenille couch pillows and blanket throws that never seems to get to the dry cleaners. I take out the pillows (if you can I wash them separately), then wash them on the shortest cold delicate cycle using color grabber sheets, then I hang them to dry. Once they are completely dry, I then put them in the dryer on a steam refresh cycle, and they are as good a new. I am not recommending that you do this; I just took a chance because I don't like to dry clean if I don't have to.

If anyone has a question, I will be happy to help and if I don’t already know it, I will be happy to help you find out. I know how frustrating this can be. I really do love these machines.

Dont buy this washer
by: Anonymous

I can't belive that this washer is so terrible. It smells all the time. Ive owned mine for 3 years and can't seem to kick the smells. First of all the instructions do not mention that it will smell if the door is closed. It does not even mention that the seal needs to be cleaned often. If I had known this I would have never bought this washer. As per the samsung rep, I need to clean it out and use vinegar. Really?? Why didnt they put that in the Instructions?? He also said to pull the seal gasket back. Really again. They dont include this in print. Why, is it becuase doing this often will ruin the seal. And if that happens they will blame us again. Very poor design. This washer should be recalled. The mildew and mold is probably bad to our health. As per samsung vinegar will take care of the smell. Did not work. For the amount of money spent on this machine..... Just terrible. I will never by samsung products again. For those people who say they have never had a smell, just wait. I also cant believe that so many people are OK with having to leave the door open. Whats the point of having great looking machines that need the door open all the time.

problem with bleach dispenser
by: Anonymous

I bought the samsung model WF 448AAP 4.5CF last summer. The machine seems to work fine except when I add bleach in the dispenser it burns my clothes. It has already ruined many of my best T-shirts. It does not dispense the bleach properly. I called the Samsung people and all they said was to clean the dispenser but that is not the problem it is something wrong with the design.
Another thing that annoys me is that SamSung says this machine will hold up to 4.5 cubic feet well fine, what the hell is 4.5 cubic feet??????? How about telling me how many pounds of clothes it will hold I at least have a bathroom scale to estimate the amount of laundry to stuff into it...

This machine sucks!
by: Paige

We had a top-loading GE for over 15 years and it finally died. We spent over $3,000 for a new washer and dryer from Samsung. It got very high ratings but those giving the ratings must not use the machine. They must just look at it as a piece of furniture because I will admit that it is very pretty! It does not matter if you wash large or small loads with whatever temperature; clothes come out unclean on a consistant basis. I am about to donate these two buckets of bolts to charity. My family is very active is sports and outdoor activities and with three children I need a washer that will get the job done and this my friends is NOT the machine. Stay away from this machine even if someone tries to give it to you. It does not save energy and because you have to re-wash the clothes so much it uses vastly more water than our old washer. I will now try to find a pair to replace this garbage and finally have really clean clothes.
